Our Mission
At the Flamingo Book Club, our mission is simple: Flamingos, fun, and a free book for everyone! We exist to spread the joy of reading by increasing access to books for elementary-aged children, their families, and educators—especially in rural and underserved communities.
Who We Are
The Flamingo Book Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mobile reading program founded with a passion for literacy, equity, and imagination. Led by Mrs. Flamingo (that’s me!), we travel to schools and libraries across Southern Colorado and beyond, delivering free books and joyful reading experiences.
What We Do
Through monthly book deliveries, colorful event booths, and interactive storytimes, we make it easy (and fun!) for kids to build their home libraries and develop a lifelong love of reading.
We currently partner with libraries, schools and other community partners to offer:
📦 Book-A-Month deliveries
🦩 Flamingo Storytime sessions
🎪 Event Booths with books, face painting, and fun
🎉 Special Literacy events like 100th Day Read-A-Thons
How It Works
Each month, we bring a curated selection of children’s books to our partner sites. Schools and libraries can distribute these books to their students and staff—or invite Mrs. Flamingo to help deliver them in person. Every book is free to keep.
We also partner with amazing organizations like Gub Gub's Pizza and Ice Cream and MyLibrary Bookmobile, making book access even more mobile and magical.
Why We Do It
We believe every child deserves the joy of owning books that reflect their interests and dreams. By removing barriers and making reading joyful, we help build stronger readers, families, and communities.
The goal of the Flamingo Book Club is to encourage a love of reading, and increase access to books, by offering free books to elementary-aged children, their families and educators.
To accomplish this goal, the FBC partners with elementary schools, libraries and other community partners.Â
